West Coast Wind is optimistic

About 1,900 cattle grazing on Tasmania’s most isolated farm near Granville Harbour look set to share their paddocks with 33 new wind turbines. Following the long-awaited passing of legislation to reset Australia’s Renewable Energy Target, West Coast Wind plans to start construction of a wind farm on Royce Smith’s 1,255ha beef property at the end of the year. An off-take agreement is under negotiation for 99MW of power that will be transported to the Reece Power Station, 11km away, via a new transmission line. Project funding is yet to be secured.
